Operation
Care Dallas is a ministry of love to the homeless in Dallas Texas.
Since 2004 Mrs. Jennings has recruited volunteers and has organized a Christmas
gathering of the homeless in order to give them medical care, counseling,
family reunification, and new shoes and coats, and many other services and
ministries. She has seen literally hundreds if not thousands come to Christ and their
lives changed dramatically. Many of whom volunteer in her ministry because they
know what it is like to be there in the streets, and they want to share the
love they have received in Jesus Christ.
What started out as a one woman show has now turned into an international
ministry for the homeless! On December 15, 2007 over 8000 homeless were
ministered to by over 200 churches and Christian people who volunteered of
their own free will, and many non Christian volunteers. Doctors,
cosmetologists, counselors, and even job finding companies offered services for
no cost.
This was our first time to be a part of this awesome work that displays the
incredible love and grace of God we have through Jesus Christ. We were in awe
of all we witnessed. One of the ministries at the Operation Care Dallas
Christmas party is the "Foot Washing" ministry. In this area, poor or
homeless men, woman and children are given new shoes that have been donated by
many people and companies from around the area.
These men and women must have good shoes and boots in order to work certain
jobs or because they must walk for many miles to find work or shelter. In
2008, we are expecting near 10,000 homeless and we need shoes and volunteers.
The kinds of shoes we need are tennis shoes and work boots, not dress
shoes or sandals. If you are willing to donate "new" shoes or socks
or if you would like to volunteer to help in the foot washing area or other
areas please click the banner above and sign up at the Operation Care website.
If you would like to know about our experience, please read my testimony of the
2007 ministry here on this website, it might stir your spirit.
